Welcome to My Wood Desk Tutorial!
It is a simple one< nothing fancy
but I think you will like the outcome

You will use the selection tool mostly, no vectors or shapes
for a change :-)

What you will need includes:
Jasc Paint Shop Pro
Download a trial version here
Flaming Pear Super Blade Pro Download a trial version here
Finished Wood Pattern Download Here
Gold-Glitter preset Download Here

Step 1: Open a new image 450 X 450, Transparent background.
You can use your rulers by going to View/Rulers and click on it.
Layers/add a new raster layer and name it desk top.
Now click on your selections tool on your Tool Bar
Make sure your Tool Options reads the following:
Selection Type: rectangle
Feather: 0
Now with your ruler on start at these cordinates (100,150) and move it across to (380,224) Keep your rectangle selected.  Go to your Styles Palette and change your foreground to Pattern and find your Finished Wood Pattern:
Scale set at=100
Angle set at=0
Using your Flood Fill flood your selected area with the wood pattern.
Go to Selections/Float. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Cutout and apply a cutout with these settings:
Vertical: -8
Horizontal: 13
Opacity: 47
Blur: 10.7
Color: Black
repeat the cutout only make these changes:
Vertical: 8
Horizontal: -13
Opacity: stays the same
Blur: stays the same
Color: stays the same
Deselect.

Step 2: We are going to make the legs now. I made mine skinny but you
can elaborate and make them wider if you wish.
Layer/add a new raster layer and name it desk legs.
Using your selection tool again start at (100,226) and go to these next coordinates (110,360).
Repeat the same steps Flood fill with same Finished Wood Pattern, Go to Selections/Float and apply the same cutout as before. Deselect and then click on your layer palette. Duplicate your desk legs layer then Image/mirror. Use your mover tool to move your right desk leg over to fit along the desk top.
Now go back to your layer palette and check layer 1 and desktop layer.
Layers/merge visible your legs layers. Rename Desk legs.
Move this layer below your Desk top layer.

Step 3: We are going to work on the Drawers.
Layers/add a new raster layer and name it drawer.
Using your selection tool once again Make sure your coordinates read as follows: repeat the flood fill with the same Finished Wood Pattern. Selections/Float, repeat same cutout. Duplicate this layer and then Image/mirror, Use your mover tool
and move your duplicate drawer over to fit next to your left drawer.

Now you are almost done with your desk.
All we have left are your handles and the decoration for the top.

Step 4: We are going to make the handles for your drawers.
I told you this was painless. :-)
Layer/add a new raster layer and name it handles.
Using your selection tool again set on rectangle and in the middle of your drawer draw a skinny rectangle like so:

Set your foreground color to white and flood fill your selected area.
Now go to Effects/Flaming Pear/Superblade pro and apply your gold glitter preset. Apply a drop shadow (Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow) at these settings:
Vertical: -1
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 100
Blur: 2.4
Color: black
Now apply Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the following settings:
I used the Groove Preset with these settings:
Width: 4
Smoothness: 0
Depth: 5
Ambience: 0
Shininess: 0
Color: white
Angle: 315
Intensity: 50
Elevation: 30
Deselect. Layer Duplica then Image/Mirror. Use the mover tool again to place the other handle over on the right drawer.

Step 5 Add the Decoration to the Desk top: I used Design 7 Ding Font
letter A font size 22 antialias checked and floating checked.
You will want to also add a new raster layer. You can use a brush or another type of deco that is your choice.
Leave your decoration selected and go to Effects/Flaming Pear/Super Blade pro and apply the gold glitter preset again. Keep selected and add the same drop shadow as before.
Layer/Duplicate then Image Mirror. Now your desk is done.
If you want to tube this for later use. On your layer palette check your Layer 1 and the Layers/merge visible then File/Export as tube
name it and you have your tube.
