You will need to be familiar with PSP and I consider this Tutorial to be at the Intermediate level
You will be using your Shapes tool, Retouch tool, Inner Bevel , Paint brush, and some tubes of your own.
You will not need any outside Plugins and if you don't have PSP 7 or PSP 8 then you can download
A trial version Here
The Colors you will use are the following:
Brown: #84553C
Gold: #C6AA7B
Yellow: #F1C721
Rust: #845541
Orange: #FFA657
Biege: #E9C6B3
At least I think that is all..LOL If I need to add more I will tell you. I will always tell you
What Color/Colors you will be using at the beginning of each layer...Sooooo if you are ready
go to Step 1 and don't forget to save often.
::Step 1::
Make sure your Foreground and Background color is set to Biege color #E9C6B3. Open a new Transparent Layer
size 150 X 325. Layers->A new raster layer and name it broom base. Click on your shapes tool and select the rounded
rectangle shape. Draw a long rounded rectangle like the picture below:
You will now take your mouse and holding down the CTRL key pull on the right lower node of your shape and pull out
wards so that you have something like this below:

Now you will do the same thing with the top only hold the CTRL Key and move your nodes towards the center
To narrow your broom top. It will look like this below:

Layers->Convert to Raster Layer. Selections->Select All. Selections->Float. Make your Background Color Pallet Null and change
Your Foreground color to Rust color #845541. Click on your paint brush and set it these settings below:
Now we are going to make a bunch of color lines inside the selected area. Use all the colors listed above. It will look messy
but it will look fine I promise. Make 3 or 4 lines of one color and then another and another. It will look like this below:
You want to leave a little beige there but mostly it should be colorful

Now take a rest, a drink of cider and a bite of a cookie (Chocolate chip my favorite)
You will be using the retouch-> smudge tool next.
Keep your selected area selected and use the retouch tool set to smudge and these settings below:

Using an Up and down motion smudge the colors. Deselect.
Use the smudge tool again and at the bottom of your broom smudge out to make your broom bristles. Change your retouch tool
to Darken RGB and darken (using the settings below)along the sides and some in the middle then switch to Lighten RGB and lighten
randomly the broom bristles. It should look like this below when it is done:

Looks pretty good so far. *grins* At this point you may want to save, File->Save as project.psp (or whatever you want to save as
Now on to the broom handle:
:: Step 2 ::
Layers->New Raster Layer and name it handle. Change your foreground/Background Styles Pallet to Brown or Color #84553C Click on your shapes tool and you are going to use the Rounded Rectangle again.
Make a long rectangle like so:

Move your handle below the broom layer. Selections->Select All. Selections->Float. Effects->3D Effects->Cutout and apply the settings below:

We are going to use the retouch tool again. Keep your handle selected and use the same settings that you used for the Darken RGB and the Lighten RGB
In Step 1 for the broom bristles.
Darken First and then Lighten the handle. When you are happy with the results then Deselect. Mine looked like this below:

Gives it a worn look huh?
I went ahead and cleaned up the top to make it round by using the eraser tool with the settings below:
Zoom in and use the eraser and erase the right corner and then the left just slightly to make your handle round.
An example is shown next to the eraser settings

Just a few more touches to go. Save again.
:: Step Three ::
We are going to make the bands that hold the handle and the broom together. Layer->New Raster Layer and name it bands.
Your foreground should be set to black and your Background Null. Click on your drawing tool and use these settings below:

Draw a line across the length of the handle. Layers->Duplicate and move the second band up. Next Selections->Select All Selections->Float.
Effects->3D Effects->Inner Bevel and use the Settings below. Apply the Inner Bevel Twice then do the same thing to the first band so that you have this:

Almost Done I promise. You will want to add some finishing touches. I added some Autumn leaves and a ribbon tube that I had
gotten from Christina's Tubes you can get yours here The Autumn leaves I got at
