Welcome to my Disappearing Ghost Tutorial!

This tutorial was created by Me on August 31, 2003 and is ©Dreamers Design 2003

I was trying to create something for halloween and so I went to work. I made the ghost,
then I thought "What if I had the Ghost disappear once he Appears and says BOO"
So I went to work creating this cute disappearing ghost and this is what I created.

::Supplies and What you will Need::

This tutorial was created in PSP 7 and I am sure you can do it in PSP 8 too
You can download a trial versionhere

You will need my ghost Selections Here

You can use any font you wish but I used the fontMagdelena
You will also be using the Inner Bevel Effect and CutOut Effect for this tutorial.
You will need to have a working knowledge of PSP, Layers, Selections and Animation 3.

::Step 1::
Open a new Image 300 X 300 Transparent Background. Layers->A New Raster Layer and name it ghost body. Selections->Load From Disk and open the ghostbody.sel. Change your Background color on your Styles Pallet to white. Flood Fill the selected area with White and keep selected. Selections->Float then Effects->3D Effects->Cutout and apply The following settings:

Vertical/Horizontal: -3

Opacity: 49

Blur: 23.8

Shadow Color: Black

Apply the Cutout and Deselect.

::Step 2::
Layers->New Raster Layer and name it ghost arms. Selections->Load From Disk and open the ghostarms.sel. Flood Fill the selected area with white and keep selected. Selections->Float Then Effects->3D Effects->Cutout and apply the following settings:

Vertical/Horizontal: -1

Opacity: 49

Blur: 18.8

Shadow Color: Black

Apply the Cutout and Deselect. On your Layer pallet move the arms layer below the body layer.

::Step 3::
Layers->New Raster Layer and name it eyes. Selections->Load From Disk and open the ghosteyes.sel
Change your foreground styles color to Black. Flood Fill the selected area and then keep selected and apply Effects->3D Effects->Inner Bevel with these settings:
Bevel Setting

Width: 14

Smoothness: 15

Depth: 12

Ambience: 0

Shininess: 50

Color: White

Angle: 315

Intensity: 50

Elevation: 30

Deselect.

::Step 4::
Layers->New Raster Layer and name it mouth. Selections->Load from Disk and open the ghostmouth.sel
Flood Fill selected area with Black and Deselect.

::Step 5::
Layers->New Raster Layer and name it Boo. Click on the A (Text Tool)and then click inside the image. Find the Font you are using.
If you are using the Magdelena Fontmake the text size 48, Stroke/Fill: Black, and select Vector Type in Boo and then click Okay. With your mover tool move your text down towards the bottom of the ghost figure then click your mover tool on your tool bar to deselect.

::Step 6::
Now you need to make your three images to animate. On your layer pallet you will X off the following layers

Boo layer, ghost arms layer, and layer1. You should have the ghost body, eyes, and mouth layer un-X'd. Layers-> Merge Visible and name this ghost1. Layers->Duplicate the ghost1 layer. X out the the ghost1 layer and Un-X the arms layer and boo layer and Copy of ghost1 layer. Layer->Merge visible and name this ghost2. YOu will have now 3 layers. YOur layer1 (background layer), Ghost1, and Ghost2. Click on your Ghost1 layer on your layer pallet and Layers-> Duplicate and rename your duplicate layer ghost3. Layers->Arrange->Bring to Top. Now you are ready to make three images to animate.
Click on your Ghost1 layer and File->Save as ghost1a in a folder you will keep your images.

Click on your Ghost2 layer and File->Save as ghost2a in the same folder you saved ghost1a in.

Click on your ghost3 layer and File->Save as ghost3a in the same folder as ghost1a and ghost2a.

::Animating Your Ghost::
Once you have your three ghost images saved open Animation Shop and click on the Animation Wizard.

You will answer and do the following:

1. Click on same size as the first image frame->click Next

2. Click Transparent for the canvas color->Click Next

3. Click Upper left corner of frame and with canvas color->Click Next

4. Click Yes repeat the animation indefinately. and then change the time you want the frame to be displayed to 15->Click Next.

5. Add your images here. Browse to the folder you have your three ghost images in and click on the ghost3a image then while holding down the shift key click on ghost2a and ghost1a->Click Open and your will be back at the dialog box->Click Next then Click Finish.
You will see all three images here. Now what I did was resize my images here but you don't have to. If you want to though you can go to Animation->Resize Animation and I resized mine 200 X 200. Once you have resized your animation or not. Now you want to make him disappear or dissolve..LOL

Click on your middle image that has the word Boo on it. Go to Effects->Insert Image Transition and do the following:

Don't change anything except the Transition Length to 3.1 sec and then Under Effects->Scroll to Disolve->Click Ok.
Now View your Animation! Click View->Animation and you will see your ghost appear, then his arms will go up in the air, say boo and then dissolve! Cute huh? If you want to save this go ahead and File->Save as
You will now go through gif optimizer and just click Next until you get to the end then click finish. You are done. Whew...hehehe
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I had fun creating it. If you have any questions please Email Me
